Siderius Heftrucks BV has completed the new company building in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands

After a two-year construction period, Siderius Heftrucks BV completed construction work on its new state-of-the-art company building in Leeuwarden in the Dutch province of Friesland in April 2023. Founded more than 80 years ago in Oude Bildtzijl, the company is now a household name in the Netherlands when it comes to transport equipment and industrial trucks. With the new location in Leeuwarden, Siderius has set the course for future growth.

"It all started with tractors and repairs of agricultural machinery," says Jan Yke Algra, branch manager at Siderius Heftrucks. "In the 1980s, my father-in-law Broer Pieter Siderius focused on selling agricultural machinery and forklifts after taking over the Berlikum-based company from his father and uncle."

Expansion of the product range

In 2009, Broer Pieter Siderius had to sell the company for health reasons. Since then, Erik Jansen has been at the helm of Siderius Heftrucks BV. As managing director of the telescopic handler rental company Bultena Verhuur in Berlikum with further locations in Groningen, Mill and Alphen a/d Rijn, Erik Jansen has extensive know-how in the field of transport machinery. With the expanded product portfolio to include all-terrain forklifts and telescopic forklifts, the Berlikum location reached its capacity limit and Siderius decided to build a larger and more modern company building at a new location to meet the requirements of the growing company.

"In Leeuwarden, we found the ideal conditions for our new company building," explains Jan Yke Algra. "The location is perfectly tailored to our needs, so we can offer our customers the best possible service in the field of transport vehicles. “

The new premises of Siderius at Brailleweg 10-12, in Leeuwarden has been built on an area of approximately 10,000 sqm in the immediate vicinity of the N31 and N359 freeways. On the site, on a total of 2,000 square meters of built-up area, there is a well-equipped workshop with warehouse and state-of-the-art paint booth, as well as a large showroom for new vehicles and the administration. The company employs a total of 20 people at the Leeuwarden site. More than 125 employees work at Bultena's sites in Groningen, Mill and Alphen a/d Rijn.

Specialist for Clark forklifts in Friesland and Groningen

In 2015, Siderius took over the then Clark dealer Uwe Bakker and has since been the Clark authorized dealer for the Friesland and Groningen region. Siderius offers its customer the entire Clark portfolio from hand-operated Clark low and high lift trucks to counterbalanced trucks with electric, diesel or gas drive with a lifting capacity of up to 8000 kilograms - from the sale of new and used trucks to rental, service, and maintenance. A total of seven service technicians and five workshop employees support customers in the maintenance and servicing of Clark industrial trucks. Siderius is also the right address for the rental of industrial trucks. In the area of short and long-term rental, customers can access a fleet of up to 80 vehicles.
